Applying for Financial Aid

Here are important reminders when applying for financial aid:

-Look up every school on your student’s final college list to find the submission deadlines and mandatory forms (i.e. FAFSA and CSS Profile)
-Create a spreadsheet that lists the following:
Name of the college
Required financial aid deadline
Required forms and documents to fill out along with the links
-Gather all required information needed to apply for financial aid, like:
Driver’s license numbers
Social security numbers
Latest income taxes
W-2 forms
Bank statements
Family investments (stocks, real estate, etc)
-Log onto FAFSA.gov, in order to get your FSA ID ahead of time (it takes 3 to 5 business days to get)
-Aim for applying for financial aid as early as possible in order to maximize your opportunity to get the most financial aid possible from each college.
